Super Green Spirulina Chai

Don't be put off by the green color of this Chai! It is absolutely delicious and super healthy too. Spirulina is blue green algae that grows on fresh water ponds. It is considered the highest source of useable plant protein and is a good source of Vitamin A, Calcium, B Vitamins & Chlorophyll. You cannot taste spirulina when it is combined with spices and natural sweeteners.

You may have trouble convincing your family to try this green drink, but once they do they will probably be back for more.

Ingredients:

1 c. of Almond, Coconut or Cow Milk

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. turmeric

1/2 tsp. ginger

1/4 tsp. clove

2 or 3 cardamom pods (optional)

1 star anise (optional)

1 tsp. Spirulina

1 tsp. Tulsi Greens by Organic India (optional)

Raw Honey to taste (I use about 1 to 2 tsp.) You could use maple syrup or another natural sweetener or your choice.

Place milk and spices in saucepan. Heat gently on low. Use a wire whisk to blend spices into milk. When heated thoroughly, place milk in blender. (Strain first if you used whole spices) Add spirulina, honey and tulsi greens (if using) and blend for about 1 minute, until frothy. Enjoy!

I love this Organic Spirulina by Organic Meets Good

I don't always add Tulsi Greens to my Green Chai, but this mix by Organic India is wonderful. It contains Moringa, Tulsi, Wheatgrass, Ginger, Amla, Haritaki, and Licorice root.

I hope you give this Green Drink a try and let me know what you think!
